Oblique Land at Global Design Forum Istanbul 2026
26 / 05 / 2026Salon presented Oblique Land, a public installation on the Bosphorus-facing grounds of Kabataş High School, as part of Global Design Forum Istanbul’s inaugural edition. On view through June 7, the installation reconsiders the architectural potential of the ground plane through a sloped, inhabitable surface, positioned between landscape intervention and public platform. Its angled surface alters conventional movement patterns, inviting visitors to navigate the site through shifting balance and perspective. As STIRworld observed, “something as ordinary as standing and looking was transformed into a physical experience.” The installation doubles as seating, gathering infrastructure and an observation point.

Oblique Land was developed within Global Design Forum Istanbul’s Placemaking programme, guided by the curatorial framework of Artistic Director Melek Zeynep Bulut. The project featured among the forum’s citywide interventions, alongside installations by Waugh Thistleton Architects, NUN Architecture and YAKIN Kolektif, and received international coverage in ArchDaily, Dezeen, STIRworld, Domus and Le Quotidien de l’Art.
